Mad about Sue!October 24, 2008I'm so excited to review yet another in the long line of sugar scrubs that I've fallen in lust with. Today I'll be talking about Mad City Sue. From her site..."I have been making and selling bath and body products since 2002. All products are made in small batches to ensure freshness. Since my products are all made to order, certain scents may need a little time to fully cure in the products. Many scents need about a week or so to fully blossom so I recommend waiting a few days (I know it is hard!) before judging a scent." I received several different sugar scrubs but I'm going to be focusing on her Pixie Sugar Creamy and Moisturizing Whipped Sugar Body Scrub. This scent was beyond delicious and immediately transported me to my younger years when I used to walk down to local corner market and get candy by the handful. Among these were the ever popular Pixie Sticks (basically flavored sugar in a long tube) and Fun Dips (sugar "sticks" that you lick and then dip into the attached flavored sugar packets). This scrub smells just like a combo of those two cavity causing candies. Yum! The Pixie Whipped Sugar Scrub needed no cure time - it was amazing the day I got it and remained amazing until I used it up 5 days later. I simply couldn't help myself... I was like a druggie every morning, looking for my daily scrub fix. And let me tell you, going cold turkey has been tough! This non-greasy, soft scrub is easily scooped from the jar and provides a gentle non-foaming exfoliation. Definitely won't sand your outer layer of skin off as some other, uh, more "robust" scrubs tend to do. But this delight doesn't just exfoliate - it also moisturizes. While it's not greasy, you can feel the slip of the skin-loving oils it's made with and once rinsed off, it leaves your skin feeling baby soft and smooth. Ooooh. Nice! But by far the best benefit of this scrub was the lingering scent. I was able to get a whiff of pixie sticks for the remainder of the day. Mmmm. This scrub definitely gets two thumbs way up. Great scent, great moisturization, gentle exfoliation. Just super duper yum. Get Mad today! Pomegranate...YUM!October 15, 2008Well, that was a long week. Haha! 2 consecutive moves (one from AZ to WA and the second from a temp house to our permanent rental) combined with all the related stresses and subsequent getting behind on work made it so updating this blog was the last thing on my mind. However, things are settled down now and I'm ready and raring to go! This is the first in a number of new reviews that I'll be quickly banging out. Enjoy! ![]() I received a few items from Country Cottage Soap and oh, soooooo delish! Let me start with the Shea Butter Body Silk Sugar Scrub. Since I'm officially a sugar scrub addict at this point... This is a non-foaming sugar scrub. Typically these non-foaming versions are oil slicks. Yuck. My views on these scrubs haven't changed - I don't like them. But thankfully this is not one of those death-traps-in-a-jar! The scrub was slightly congealed upon opening with the shea butter solidified at the top. But since I keep my house pretty cool, this didn't surprise me. I carefully stirred it together with my finger and then had to struggle against licking it off. I think it definitely SMELLS better than it tastes. I suppose I should mention that I received the Pomegranate scented version. Beyond delicious. I'm seriously renaming this blog Bath Scrumptious. Or Bath I-Must-Eat-It. This scent is utterly divine. So after I talked myself out of taking a taste, I scooped out a nice amount and started on my arms. Mmmm... excellent. Not too exfoliating but not too soft either. Just right. The oils and shea butter made for a nice soothing feel while the sugar gently scrubbed. Once I'd finished and rinsed, my arms were baby smooth and moisturized. The water beaded up and ran off. As I'd been hoping it would, the scent lingered for hours after my shower. While foaming sugar scrubs are my favorite, a well-made non-foaming scrub has the benefit of long-lasting scent. I love this. On a scale of 1-10, I give this scrub a solid 10. Two thumbs way up. I'll definitely be back to purchase more once this jar is gone! The second item I received was a Reed Diffuser Set. I have very little experience with reed diffusers so I was anxious to try this out. My previous experiences were not good. The scent didn't linger or travel more than maybe 6 inches from the reeds. Plus, the scents were quite icky. This is probably due to my getting them at Ross. Haha. So, with trepidation I opened this and put it into my upstairs bathroom. I've never seen black reeds - uber cool. Quite classy looking. I got pomegranate in this as well (man, do I LOVE this scent!!) and within 5 minutes of setting it up on the top of the bathroom cabinet, I could already smell it down the hallway. Within a few hours, I could smell it in the living room. This is out the bathroom door, down the hallway, a left turn through the dining room and another left into the living room. Not a *huge* area to cover, but still - the fact that you could actually smell it at all was fab! I've had it set up for about 7 weeks now and I flip the reeds once a week. It's just now starting to lose some of the strength so it's not scenting the hallway and surrounding areas anymore, but it's still doing an excellent job in the bathroom. Maybe this is how all reed diffusers should be, but I was just delighted with this one. It works 1000% better than the others I've purchased. I will definitely be back for a refill and I'll probably be purchasing a few sets to set up through out the house. The laundry room downstairs would benefit from one of these and my bedroom definitely needs one. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for this awesome product. I most assuredly recommend this item! You must go buy a set. Now!
