Foaming Buttercream Scrub

January 10, 2007

Aromatic Essence Buttercream Bath Scrub

Aromatic Essence: Buttercream Foaming Bath Scrub: A rich and creamy bath indulgence with the added luxury of shea along with sugar and other exfoliatns leaves your skin smooth and soft. Use it in bath or shower for the ultimate treat. Available in London Lemon Curd, Cappuccino Brulee, Sugar Kisses, Dolce Con Leche, and Lychee.

A forum I'm on was having their annual drive to raise money for the next year's operating expenses and several various charities and when I saw the photo of this product, I had to bid right then. I made sure my bid was high enough that unless someone had it out for me, I'd be sure to win. And win I did!

I received 4 different scents of this product: Lychee, Sugar Kisses, Dolce Con Leche, and Cappuccino Brulee. This review is about Lychee and Cappuccino Brulee as I gifted the other 2 to a couple of my sisters (who were in heaven once they opened their jars and got a whiff of what what inside!).

First off the Lychee. Oh wow. I could wear this scent over my entire body for a year and never grow tired of it. It's indescribably delicious. Sweet and maybe a bit fruity - let's just say it's the single greatest bath scrub scent EVER. (cherie swoons at the thought...)

I've never used a product like this. When you open the lid you're presented with a product that has been piped into the jar. A great touch that just adds to the incredibleness of this stuff. This has a consistency like hair paste with grains in it (that'd be the sugar, folks!) and when you rub it on with some water, it foams up. How totally cool! It's a perfect cross between a sugar scrub and moisturizing cleanser. I've taken to using this every other day (I don't want to run out too quickly!) all over my arms and legs. It scrubs gently and leaves a silky smooth finish. I can honestly say I've never used a product quite like this before and once it's gone, I'll be ordering more. And in the biggest size possible because I never want to be w/out this. (if I keep finding shower products I adore, my showers will be 10 hours long. Good grief! haha)

The Cappuccino Brulee is made with coffee grounds and has a firmer consistency than the Lychee. I love the smell of coffee and this one is great. Not overwhelming nor does it leave a giant disaster in the tub that you have to clean up later. I alternate use between this and the Lychee. They are so different in consistency and with the different scrubs that it's like 2 different products. Very clever.

I think that Aromatic Essence has a gem of a product here. Hopefully they'll have their site up soon so it'll be easier to order but until then it's totally worth emailing the owner to place your order. This product is worth any amount of hassle to get your hands on it!

Buttercream Foaming Bath Scrub is available in 4 and 8 ounces for $7.00 and $13.00 respectively. Once you've tried this, you won't care if it's $25/oz - you'll simply be compelled to order again and again!

GM Hand & Body Cream

Klean Bath & Body Tangy Watermelon Body Polish

5th Avenue Bath Co: Hand & Body Cream with Goat's Milk: Goat's milk is high in protein, triglycerides, Vitamin A, B6, B12 and E making it an excellent natural moisturizer that helps hydrate and nourish skin. Honey is a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. It is high in vitamin C and promotes collagen formation in the skin. Shea Butter is well known in helping moisturize while providing a silky protective barrier to all skin types. This moisturizer is amazing; it absorbs quickly, and it does not leave a greasy after feel.

Bath and Body Works is having the yearly clearance sale so tonight as my hubby and I were walking through the mall, I decided to go and see what they had. Right in the doorway was a display with some yummy smelling lotion (I forget what kind now..). Being the lotion fanatic that I am, I was quick to pick it up to try it out. Yuck. My hands were sticky for a good 30 minutes afterwards. I'm not sure what was in that but that seems to be a common thing among your name-brand lotions. And really, dry hands are *much* more desirable than stickyish hands that feel just dirty. Blech.

Why did I relate that story? So I could compare it to some of the most awesome body cream anywhere. Ever! I simply had to write another review on one of 5th Avenue's products because they are so incredibly delicious!

I received this in peppermint so I immediately decided I would be using it on my feet. I adore peppermint foot products - they make my tootsies feel refreshed and cool. I was not disappointed in this cream! It's thick and oh so luscious and only takes a few seconds to absorb completely - none of this trying to vainly rub in lotion that refuses to go anywhere. What's the point of that?!

The peppermint is just right. Some products I've used in the past have WAY too much mint in them and are just overpowering. Watering eyes are not desirable, thanks! There is enough peppermint in this product to leave your hands, feet, or any other body part left feeling cooled and refreshed. It's perfect.

While the cream is thick, it's not too much so. It easily smoothes on and feels silky as it's being rubbed in. The thicker nature of this makes it ideal for foot care. I personally hate watery lotions or creams for the feet. I enjoy a thick cream that feels like it's really doing the job. You can feel this filling the cracks and dry patches and going right to work. A few days of using this morning and night and my feet were in heaven. Moisturized and smooth.

But it's also perfect for the entire body, not just the feet! As a hand lotion it leaves your hands silky soft without stickiness or oiliness. I love the fact it so quickly absorbs and leaves you feeling so refreshed. This peppermint is great for everywhere - not just the feet.

I'm going to have to order more of this as my sister was visiting recently and when she left, this cream was mysteriously missing. She's addicted to 5th Ave's products and I don't blame her! Erika has a done an excellent job with her product line and to date, I've yet to try something I don't immediately fall in love with.

Available in several different scents for both men and women, 5th Avenue Bath Co's Hand & Body Cream with Goat Milk is $23.95 for an 12 ounce jar. This will last forever and will be a purchase that you simply will not regret. I guarantee that!

Tangy Watermelon Body Polish

January 05, 2007

Klean Bath & Body Tangy Watermelon Body Polish

Klean Bath & Body: Tangy Watermelon Body Polish: A fine textured watermelon-scented moisturizing sugar scrub containing crushed orange peel. Wow! For an ice-box fresh instant pick-me-up, this cooling and invigorating scrub is like dipping your spoon into the sweetest, juiciest watermelon on a perfect summer's day. The vibrant aroma of watermelon combines perfectly with tart tangerine essential oil and warm undertones of the finely chopped peel for a total showertime sense sensation...

Looks like it's time for me to be eatin' some words. I've said in the past that I cannot stand oily sugar/salt scrubs. They leave me skiing in the bathtub (and trust me, this is not something I like to be doing. It's not like it's a 10 foot shower and slipping and sliding while trying to keep from crashing through the shower curtain and onto to floor is not something I am keen on experiencing. Thank you.) and usually are just plain nasty. Nothing like an oil slick all over your body to put you in a fine mood. But, let's not focus on the negative because, amazingly, I've found an oil based scrub/polish that I find truly divine!

First off the scent. Oh, yum. Delicious! I hate melons and won't eat them in I'm starving to death. However, I happen to love the scent (weird, eh?). Anyway, this one is incredible. It's so realistic and juicy smelling that it makes me want to taste it. (what IS it with me and wanting to eat toiletry products? Sheesh!). Not too heavily scented but definitely not underscented. It's just perfecto in my book!

So, seeing that there was not the usual oil slick on top, I eagerly jumped into the shower and got ready to try it out. A small stir is all that is needed to incorporate the small amount of oil that was puddling up. The texture is awesome. Not really gritty but not super fine - it's a perfect blend of the two. Reminds me of playing with the fine sand you find on Florida's white beaches. Not only a great bath product, but a fun one as well!

Just a small amount, maybe a quarter size or so is enough to cover both arms and chest area. Of course as this is not a soap product, it doesn't lather up, but who cares! Wash with your normal soap/body wash first and then use this to finish the job. It left my skin tingling and with a smooth, silky finish. When I dried off I could still catch delightful whiffs of the watermelon and citrus and my arms look liked I'd spent an hour rubbing them with lotion.

Not only is the product incredble, her packaging and logo are great. I love orange and green combos and this one just shouts "Fresh" and "Clean"! Plus, her website rocks... sorry, shameless plug there since I'm the one who designed it. Haha.

I have a feeling that the rest of her products are just as fab as this one and I fully intend to find out. I'm thinking the Smooth-Ez Moisturizing Body Scrub will be next on my list. I love shea butter!

Hand & Body Lotion by Klean Bath & Body is $18.00 for an 9.4 ounce jar. Sooo worth it!
