Beauty in Color Cosmetics

Beauty in Color Cosmetics: Our eyeshadows are "pressed mineral powders". Mineral makeup is usually sold in loose powder form. This works nicely for foundation and blush. Since eyeshadows are applied to a smaller area, a controlled application is tricky with loose powders. With the right blend of the right ingredients, we've created a pressed powder that's easy to use."

When I was a young teen and into my early twenties (these were the 80's after all!) I was big into pink and light blue eye shadow, sparkly neon blue eyeliner and the blackest black mascara one could purchase. If the house was on fire I wouldn't have left if I didn't have my full face on - what, and be seen in public with a BARE face? Horrors.

That all changed a half dozen years ago or so when I noticed that something in the makeup I was using was causing my eyes to water, burn and puff up. After trying every brand of eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara with no visible improvement, I had to sadly hang up my makeup and have been bare-faced since then. I had resigned myself to the state of one who could no longer enjoy the improvements a subtle dusting of quality makeup can afford. (cue sweeping violins..)

Then I heard about mineral makeup. I'd figured out that the animal fats, oils, or lanolin used in the mainstream cosmetic lines were what was causing my not so fabulous reaction - so mineral makeup, being free of these ingredients, should be just the ticket for me! I received a Gift Certificate to Beauty in Color Cosmetics and knew that this was my chance to find out for certain - could I once again join the ranks of the makeup wearing women?!

When my order arrived, I was overcome with excitement. I received 4 different shadow colors, a few lipstick samples, and gorgeous set of brushes - including a totally fab retractable brush for blush or face powder. Too cool for words! I eagerly opened the packages and gazed with joy upon the beautiful colors that greeted me. Not having any real experience with mineral makeup, I didn't quite know what to expect. These are truly excellent! The colors are absolutely incredible and when applied, go on smoothly and w/out clumping or dusting everywhere.

Each shadow is packaged in its own box and then shrink-wrapped. Very nice packaging - something I would expect to see at the Macy's counter. The shadows are pressed so you aren't going to end up with powder all over the place. These are quite small but considering you're looking at solid powder w/out fillers like oils and other fats, a little goes a VERY long way here.

I wanted to try her Lipstick so I ordered a few sample sizes. The color with these is excellent - I've never been a huge lipstick fan, mostly because I despise the feeling of my lips being caked, blah. But the BC lipsticks are almost more like a heavily colored lip gloss. Perfect for a lip snob like myself.

I had to travel to WA state last week and decided to try out the eye shadows for the flight up. I applied them at 8am and they were on until 10pm that evening when I washed my face before bed. Incredibly enough, I experienced no stinging, no watering, and no puffy eyes. YAY! I figured it had to be a fluke (mind over matter and all that), so I applied BC's eyeshadows for the rest of the week and am thrilled to report that I had the exact same non-reaction.

Not only are Beauty in Color's eyeshadows gorgeous and non-irritating, they look fantastic through the entire day. When I wore eyeshadow before, I would have to touch it up several times each day and would invariably end up with those boogery creases you get from wearing eyeshadow for an extended number of hours. Not with this stuff! When I took it off at night, it look nearly as good as when I'd stuck it on. In fact, excusing the one time I rubbed my eyes before I remembered that I had makeup on (and having to then clean up the raccoon eye look that resulted - ha!) I have zero complaints about these products!

Count me back into the ranks of the painted women - yee haw! I will be recommending Beauty in Color to all my sisters, friends, family members, and business associates. Forget Revlon or any of the other mainstream market brands - Beauty in Color is the BOMB! Their prices are quite reasonable and with the number of colors available, your biggest problem will be deciding what to get.

If you've not yet heard of Beauty in Color, don't wait - GO NOW. And enjoy!
