Urban Goddess ScrubJune 26, 2006
Urban Goddess Cream & Sugar Scrub, by Luxury Home Elements: "Our Urban Goddess Cream & Sugar Scrubs are absolutely heavenly! Each one is made with pure cane sugar, 100% African shea butter and sweet almond oil and is loaded with rich, thick bubbles. These wonderful sugar scrubs are made thick and creamy, never harsh and grainy like most other scrubs and the best part is....they never have to be stirred! That's right. They never separate, always staying creamy smooth. These deliciously scented scrubs will leave your skin beautifully smooth and glowing." When you first pick up Urban Goddess Cream & Sugar Scrub by Luxury Home Elements, you're struck by the colors and artwork that jump out at you from the label. At least that is how it was for this reviewer. I LOVE the artwork they chose to use. And the combination of the pink and orange is actually quite modern and memorable. Definitely fits a line appropriately enough called "Urban Goddess." This review was for the Geisha Glow scent. (Great name!) The plums and orchids really waft out from this concoction. You can just make out the musk and vanilla lurking in the background. This is an exotic and heady scent that appeals to both the men and women on staff here. Upon first opening the package, you find a clear reusable inner seal. Lifting this off you're immediately struck with the heavenly scent. Once I was done swooning, I did a test tip with my index finger to see what the actual product texture was like. Buttercream frosting in a jar! That's what! LIke Betty Crocker frosting, but with a small bit of "grit." This being, of course, the sugar portion of this Cream & Sugar Scrub. The point is, I love the texture (though it did make me long for my own delicious tub of frosting. But I digress - that is for another review.) This is the most unusual sugar scrub I've used. Definitely NOT oily and with an exceptionally fine grain, this is a very unique product. Rather than just a scrubbing like your typical sugar scrub, this product actually creates a gentle creamy lather that ever so gently polishes your skin. There is absolutely no mess left in your shower/tub and your skin will be left feeling soft and smooth. I really like this scrub. Luxury Home Elements has a definite winner in this product. With the incredible goodness of what is inside combined with the unique and clever label - this is a product I would not hesitate to recommend for personal pampering or gift-giving. Urban Goddess Cream & Sugar Scrub is available in a 4 ounce jar and retails for $8.99. Rub a Dub Sugar ScrubJune 19, 2006
"Rub a Dub" Sugar Scrub, by The Polly Wog Patch: "Our sugar scrub will polish your skin to perfection like magic! A perfect blend of natural sugars and scented, skin-nourishing oils will enliven, moisturize and protect you." Until I received this product, I'd not yet experienced the magical wonder that is the Love Spell scent. This is one heavenly scent. Amazing. Addictive. Sweet. Alluring. But I digress. While I'd love to write a review on the scent alone, this review is covering the actual product - and it's pretty amazing, folks! Let me reiterate - I typically do not like most sugar or salt scrubs due to their oiliness and messy application. The Polly Wog Patch has hit a home run with this product though - it's truly incredible. Honestly, it's not like anything I've ever seen before. And this is a very good thing! The texture is similar to a thick jelly or that paste like that used in grade school art class. Mixed into this thick gel is a nice size helping of sugar crystals. The result is a scrub that is neither oily nor messy. A perfect marriage of all ingredients to culminate in what we think is the best scrub we've used thus far. The recommended usage is twice weekly but that's not enough for me. I must have used it 5 times in one week - over arms, chest, legs, and even neck and face. A gentle hand is needed for the facial scrubbing but what a great mini-facial that gave! A little goes a long way - I found that a marble sized scoop was sufficient to cover most everywhere I wanted to use this scrub. So though it's packaged in a small jar, this 4 ounces should last an average person at least 2 months. Because this was not oily it made for zero clean-up in the shower. Bonus! At $6.00 this is the steal of the week. I could easily see this product fetching double that in any bath shop. And did I mention the logo and label? Not only is this upscale, it's also incredibly cute and fun! Overall, The Polly Wog Patch is one of our favorite reviews thus far. I cannot recommend this product enough! "Rub a Dub" Sugar Scrub is available in a 4 ounce jar and retails for $6.00. Mango Body ButterJune 12, 2006
Mango Body Butter, by Berkshire Butter Company: "Inspired by nature and made from finest botanicals, this rich luxurious moisturizer will nourish and hydrate dry skin. Great for elbows, knees and feet." Confession time: I go barefoot 24/7 unless I leaves the house at which time I wear Birkenstocks on my naked feet. The dry heat here in Tucson combined with this foot abuse has resulted in extremely dry, cracked feet. It takes daily lotion and moisturizing care to keep me upright. Berkshire Butter Company's Mango Body Butter is FABULOUS! When you open the jar the sweet scent of mangos comes flowing out. The smooth, cream colored butter fills the jar nearly to the top (and this is one large jar - 8 ounces that looks more like 10) and just begs to be dug out and used. I managed to restrain myself and gently rubbed the surface to get enough to do one foot. Luscious. Creamy. Super absorbent. This was not what I had expected. This was much better! It took just a few moments to fully cover and absorb into my foot. And the smell. I know I've already mentioned it, but wow. This is one heavenly scent. Not too heavy, not too light. Just perfectly right! So, I covered both of my feet with this wonderful concoction and the difference was immediately apparent. My feet were smoother and felt moisturized more so than using a typical lotion. As a side benefit, my hands felt wonderfully smooth and silky as well. Don't get me wrong - there is no greasiness or slickness normally associated with butters. Rather, this is almost like a cross between your favorite butter and a "dry" lotion. A remarkable and incredible blending of oils. Just a small amount is needed so an 8 ounce jar is going to last you a very. Long. Time. Great value for the money! Mango Body Butter is available in 4 and 8 ounce containers and retails for $14.00-$26.00. Sticky PerfumeJune 05, 2006
Sticky Perfume, by Wylde Ivy: "If you loved brightly colored sugar candy, giant swirled lollipops, and sticky cotton candy as a child, this is the scent for you. A blending of spun sugar, candied fruits, and a hint of sweet vanilla. " I was a bit concerned after reading the product description and looking at the product name. While "foody" scents are big-time popular right now, I was not interested in smelling like a child. My fears were quickly laid to rest once I opened this bottle and got my first whiff. This perfume may have a childish name and description but the actual perfume is anything but. With hints of cotton candy and a sunny day, there are also mature notes of musk and vanilla to round out this incredible blend of fragrances. Just a few spritzes is enough to give the subtle hint of scent and yet it's strong enough that I was stopped and asked "what perfume are you wearing?!" The Swarovski Crystal bead in the bottle adds a touch of elegance and whimsy and just adds to the overall appeal of this perfume and packaging. If you're looking for something outside the normal heavy department store chemical-smelling fragrances, be sure to check out Sticky. Sticky is available in a 1 ounce container and retails for $15.00.
